Happy Christmas!

This year marks the first time I'll be celebrating Christmas away from home. I have been living and working here in Singapore since January, 2011. I feel so grown-up just having typed that, not!

Well, my Mom and Dad is here celebrating the holidays with me (and my brother plus his wife and kid)!

From my family to yours, "Have a wonderful time this Christmas! May the Lord richly bless each one of us with a fruitful 2012!"

The Pitoy Moreno Gala

A couple of weekends ago, legendary designer and national artist, Pitoy Moreno presented a selection of over 60 Filipiniana garbs for a charity gala. There were more than 50 stunning pieces shown for the show.

Warning, this post will be photo-heavy!

The gala started with some tribal gear, er ensembles where beaded tops are paired with shiny tapis

Accessories included coral headgear and rope/twine belts.

Loving the metallic skirt paired with nude, but heavily embellished top.

Next was a set of panuela-donning Maria Claras...

...and Barong Tagalog cut from piña fabric.
BTW, I'm intrigued by the lacy vest here.

There were also traditional costumes from different regions for women...

and for men, too.
(Imagine this jacket paired with dark denims, perfect!)

What comes next is a selection of Pitoy's famed Ternos. From more traditional looks to modern ones, his craftmanship and creativity definitely shown through.

Lovely Pinks

Bright Orange, with seven flower appliqués. Not to mention the ones on the sleeves.

I could almost hear the sound of what seems to be capiz shells on this terno.

Interesting shape, this calls for stunning footwear and perfectly pedicured toes.

Fringe!

Simple=Stunning

Sheer cloaks paired with cut-outs.

and oversized shawls

take center-stage.

Here comes the Brides...
in gossamer veils and lovely drop waist gowns.

with fauna and flora embroidered in color

some dots perhaps?

when all else fails, try gold!

And so I leave you, with the legendary.
Pitoy Moreno.

A Very Gaga Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving weekend everyone! I am late yes, I realize that. But since I don't really celebrate Thanksgiving, might as well share some videos from Lady Gaga!

A Very Gaga Thanksgiving on ABC was shown last Thursday night and she released four videos from the TV special.

She's really pretty in these videos. I am saying it not just because I am a fan but because she really is!

I really like these look on her. So ethereal, soooo pretty!

Anyway, first in line is Yoü And I.

Great performance! The set-up is lovely as well.

I won't be sharing all four videos here. You can google your way to youtube for that! But here's one more.

Marry the Night, which the official video hasn't been released yet. What gives, Gaga?

She Who Must Be Loved

Amanda - She who must be loved. And how can you not love such a sweet young lady such as Amanda Seyfried.

My current Hollywood crush and I am soooo happy I found some images online for her cover and editorial on next month's Marie Claire US.

Although I might say, she does not have a perfect figure. (Though perfect really is boring!). The photos were taken by fashion photographer Marcus Ohlsson.

Lovely, isn't she?

I also found a video from WMagazine's Youtube channel. It's Lynn Hirschberg's Screen Test.

Mash It Up

I haven't been watching Glee lately, though I am reading their episodes. I'm just too busy (Shocker, I know!)

Anyway, it's a good thing they are releasing video performances from upcoming episodes. Case in point: Glee's Mashup of Adele's Rumour Has It and Someone Like You! Two amazing songs sung by The Troubletones. Featuring the vocals of Naya Rivera (Santana) and Amber Riley (Mercedes).

Great vocals! Wonderful costumes, New Direction's got some competition.

Watch!
Whatchathink?!?

Oh, Sugar as a back-up dancer. Did you even notice that? And Santana look soooo pretty here.

Beyoncé: Busy B

I really believe that Beyoncé is one of the busiest woman in the music industry nowadays. She is everywhere! She's done music (she sings beautifully and dances like there's no tomorrow), movies, and sidelines into fashion, too. Oh, and she's pregnant, too.

And I must say, I am a fan of most of her music, from her Destiny's Child days to her solo career. She's an amazing woman.

To make my point of her being busy, in a span of a month, she has released 3 music videos for her 4th studio album, "4". It's actually just three weeks, and I wouldn't be surprised if she'll release another video by next week.

Let's count them videos down, and first is Countdown.

A nod to 60's retro, this video showcased B in mostly flats. Probably because she is pregnant. You can only see her in heels a few times. This is actually a really fun video, I could imagine how it was shot, especially the costume changes (see photo above).

Next is probably my favorite in the bunch, Love On Top.

I read somewhere that her inspiration for the video was boybands! And boy, can this girl sing! She sings the chorus an octave higher than the previous and she did this five times! Amazeballs!!!

Last is Party.

Really not my cup of tea, though the fashion here is way beyond! Trailer Trash meets Louis Vuitton, Dolce and Gabbana and Givenchy!

So what do you think? Which was your favorite? Do tell!

Bench at Philippine Fashion Week 2011

The Philippine Fashion Week started last weekend and opening the week long festivities is Philippines' best retail store, Bench.

I probably have a lot of Bench items in my closet, from jeans, shirts, bags, socks and even underwear. I bought them not because they cost cheap but these items are classic staples that will last me for seasons to come. I mean, who can say no to a perfectly dark denims and stripey socks, right?

The show started with Filipino top designer, Randy Ortiz.. For more information, click! And here are the photos.

Bench is also known for putting celebrities and personalities as endorsers. A handful of them walked the runway as well. One of them is Isabelle Daza (pictured above) in a Randy Ortiz for Bench jumpsuit.

The colors featured were blacks and grays with a pop of red here and there, as the sweater above.

I love this gray sweater with a sole black sleeve.

Jumpsuits are really catching on. But can normal women actually wear this out?
I guess some women will choose fashion first than comfort.

Did you guys know that gray is my favorite color?

Bench is also known for their underwear and Part Two was a presentation for Bench Body.

Part Three would be the Spring Summer Collection 2012.
Cute couple alert!
Borgy Manotoc and Georgina Wilson opened that part to cheers and hollers.

Nicely done! Printed shirt paired with summer staple khakis.

Did you guys know that gray is my favorite color? I guess you know that now.

All photos were from Stylebible.ph. Head on to that link for more information.

Harry Shum Jr.: The Man With No Bones

It's that time off the year again, not Christmas though (soon), but when Glee collides with fashion. This time, it's Harry Shum Jr. who plays "the other Asian", Mike Chang in the hit TV series.

For GQ's November issue, Harry dresses up for the winter season. Too bad, I am not a fan of winter, the coldest I can get is when I lower the temperature of the air conditioning unit. Not good for the environment, tsk tsk!

Anyway, here are his photos:

I love me some double breasted coats, but alas, it is never too cold in the tropics for these.

Great color! The red down vest really pops out against the gray flannel suit.

Gray and Beige always looks good together.

My favorite looks of the bunch! Print-on-print-on-print. The large argyle print on the sweater vest is paired with tiny gingham on the dress shirt. The stripe socks is just fun.

Please note that the parka is longer than the suit jacket.

Loving the red socks now, where can I buy me some of these?!?

The Moleskin suited Harry.

Hooray for corduroy wales!

And for the ladies:
